Michael's Page Rant and Rave Page
Michael was born on a Friday morning about 10 minutes after midnight, 2
months premature. Mother had to breast feed me every 2 hours around the clock
for how long I forget. I grew up in a poor family although us kids never thought
we were.
Had a sister 3 years older and a brother 1year 3 months younger.
Another brother was born 8 years later.
Our father wasn't around much as he
was always out running around somewhere. Father left us when I was about 10 and
didn't see him till 9 years later when he stop by one day. He had remarried in
Seattle, Washington and Michael had nothing going on in Missouri so I decided
to come back to Seattle with him. Best decision I ever made in my life as I have
been far more successful in Washington than I would have been in Missouri.
Brother who was 15 months younger died suddenly one night in 1991. He could
have had anything he wanted in life, but he choose to waste his life drinking a
lot. Good looking, great personality and could have sold a shoe repair person
shoestrings.
He was good. There were people who knew him, he didn't know or
long forgot. He had a way with women, he could have had anything.
Interesting how those born with gifts that good, rarely take advantage of them.
Of course mother always liked him and would do things for him that she
wouldn't do for rest of us kids, even though we were more responsible.
Michael didn't start talking normally until a couple years later. Mostly made
babbling sounds. I was always amazed at how the tv worked and always wanted to know how and
in those days we just had a B&W TV.
Of course, my self esteem was really
low and as a result didn't really have a normal life. Ended up dropping out of
high school although when I did go, I always got good grades excelling in
spelling and math. Us kids learn to fix our own bicycles and cars as we couldn't
afford to pay someone. At least if we fixed it and something went wrong, we knew
what went wrong.
I'm glad we did learn and the parts store around the
corner + a neighborhood friend helped us and would often loan us the tools we
needed.
I always was the one to play around with tv's and electrical things.
I remember I tied 2 wires together and plugged the cord. It sparked, scared me
and blew the fuse. Later when I went to Trade school I learned why.
The opportunity came along for me to go to a trade school for TV repair,
so I took the year course and the old vacumn tubes were still being used. My Tv
career in Missouri didn't last long though.
Shortly after that I was living
in Seattle and my dad got me in college in 1974 to study solid state
electronics. I had no High School diploma or GED, yet I got in college. Got to
be good.
I went for a year and headed back to Missouri, where I got a job in
a TV shop where I worked for a year, then decided to move back to Seattle.
Continued on working in the TV repair field for the next 30 years and finally
got out of it in 1998.
I did get my first computer sometime in the early
80's before Microsoft Windows even existed. Leaned to program in a language known as
Basic and learned Dos. Over the years I got more into computers as technology
got better and today I am quite good with computers, build my own and getting
better at hosting web sites, yet far from a pro.
It's interesting what
we think about becomes reality. I wanted to know how TV's worked and ended up
fixing them. My sister use to always draw pictures of horses and always wanted
one. Today she lives on a farm in Missouri and has 2 horses.
In Seattle,
I got a job at a TV shop sometime in the mid 80's where I met John and he loaned
me a audio tape on the positive expectancy to win. I listened to that tape
everyday to and from work. Over time, it slowly begin to change my attitude and
started listening to more audio tapes. Today I have a Positive Attitude about
life and must like myself a lot, as I rarely ever get bored.
It's said that
if you like the person your with, you'll never be bored.
I remember the
days when I had time to get bored and depressed. As a result of technology I
became intrigued by the power of our minds and have read a lot about how our
brains work. Very interesting subject and there is a lot of information on the
internet.
I use to listen to motivational audio programs, now I make my own
and put light instrumental music in the background. Of course a text to speech
program is a big help. I still don't speak clearly as I should while I do all
right.
With a troubled childhood, low self esteem and everything else,
today I am happy with my life. Could be better, could be worse, while I
like to believe it will only get better.
I was in several long term
relationships and today I have been with Joanne for 14 years now as of 2011.
Married once in 1989 and that lasted for 3 years. Been there, done that and
never again, although I do say "Never Say Never" as you never know what will
happen.
The life I have now is pretty much the life I designed and
thought about years ago. Could have done a better job while I am happy with my
life for the most part.
Read the personals on the internet and look at
how many people are bored or seeking a partner or whatever. The only one
who can make you Happy is You.
